US Men's vs Women's
US Women's sizes run about 1.5 sizes larger than Men's for the same foot. EU sizing is gender-neutral — a EU 42 is the same physical shoe regardless of the label.
Japan (JP) sizing
JP sizes are foot length in millimeters. EU 42 = JP 265 (26.5 cm foot). Used by many Japanese brands (Asics, Mizuno, Onitsuka Tiger) and some European athletic labels for technical sizing.
Tips for buying shoes online
- Measure both feet — most people have one foot slightly larger. Buy to fit the larger foot.
- Add 0.5–1 cm to your measured foot length: toes should not press the front of the shoe.
- Leather shoes stretch; synthetic shoes do not. Size down slightly for leather, true-to-size for synthetics.
- When between two sizes, go up for casual footwear, true-to-size for running shoes.
